The series DDoS attack has affected EA Sport’s Origin platform which lets customers purchase and playing video games.
Another day, another DDoS attack; this time, the gaming giant EA Sports is suffering from a series of large scale DDoS attacks forcing the company’s servers to go offline globally.
What’s worse is that for some, gaming is the only way out to cheer themselves during lockdown amid the Coronavirus or COVID-19.
It all started around 4:19 PM · Apr 14, 2020, GMT, when customers including Snopp Dogg complained about EA Sports’ service disruption. In response, the company sent out a tweet that it is looking into the issue.
We’re currently looking into the issues affecting our services. If you can’t play online, access Origin or EA Help, we’re on it, the tweet said.
However, the description continued and at 8:21 PM, Apr 14, 2020, GMT, the Twitter handle of EA Sport’s FIFA Direct Communication tweeted that it “has temporarily disabled FUT and VOLTA FOOTBALL match creation while the company continues to investigate connectivity issues impacting EA titles.”

At 1:25 AM, Apr 15, 2020, EA Sports acknowledged that the company “experienced a series of DDoS attacks.”

In a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack, a website or service is bombarded with a high volume of internet traffic until it stops functioning and eventually goes offline.
Though EA Sports mitigated the DDoS attack and restored its services successfully, at 9:00 AM · Apr 15, 2020, GMT, the gaming giant sent out another tweet addressing yet another service outage.

According to Down Detector’s live map, EA Sports is still suffering the aftermath of the attack especially across Europe however, Hackread.com can confirm that the outage is also affecting customers in Canada, Egypt, South Africa, etc.
It is also worth noting that, Blizzard was also hit by a series of DDoS attacks around 4:15 AM, Apr 14, 2020, GMT. The attack caused worldwide service disruption.

At the time of publishing this article, EA Sports’ customers were complaining about the outage which suggests that the service is still being impacted by DDoS attacks or the company is still suffering an attack.
