The official website of Emerald City Comicon (ECCC), the biggest comic book conventions in the US said that some unknown hackers have hacked their website along with all the back up files.

Emerald City Comicon Website Hacked and Deleted-2

The hackers deleted all the backup files and redirected the Emerald City Comicon website to their Facebook page.

According to the organizers of the event:

We know that this is not a coincidence, this is a deliberate attack because when a site is hacked, they hardly ever delete the backup files,” says Joe Parrington, a spokesman for Emerald City Comicon.

“Someone deliberately wiped the entire thing out. And timing couldn’t be worse being that we have the Cinerama announcement as well as some others coming up in the next couple of days.”

The organizers accepted that all the backup files are gone and we have completely lost the website. We have to make a new website and put everything back on it from the scratch. Its very hard work as the event is all setup for March 1-3, 2013 in Seattle USA.

When asked about the user data and sensitive information like ticket-buyers (credit cards, addresses, etc.), the answer was Yes, they are safe, “Event Brite hosts all of the ticket portion of things for us, So none of that was stored with us.”

Emerald City Comicon is a very famous event for the comic fans in US, on March 30th, 2012 total 53,000 people attended the event.

At the time of publishing this article, the websites of Emerald City Comicon was redirected to their Facebook page.
