Fake Google Antivirus Tricks Users to Download Malware

Powered by google? that might be a trap of hackers as recently happened. A number of popular websites were hacked and were redirected to an AV website which claimed to be powered by google.

The AV tries to download malicious applications that can cause serious security issues. A warnging that pops up on screen reads “Google systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer. Please check you PC on viruses. To continue, please download and install our antivirus software. or our system will block your access to Google services,” Users who clicked on download link complained that it downloaded a file that was identified as a Trojan.Win32.Fakeav.tri (v) .

So far only two vendor have detected the application as a virus but the users are advised to ignore any software application even if they are powered by Google.
