Game giant Electronic Arts is the latest victim of massive data breach

A hacker is claiming to have stolen 780GB worth of data Electronic Arts (EA) including source code.

Electronic Arts (EA) is one of the leading game publishers in the industry. The company has confirmed that hackers have stolen valuable information from the company, and around 780GB of data was compromised.

EA is among the largest game companies in the world.it counts some of the major titles that it develops or publishes, including Battlefield, The Sims, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, and Titanfall, and a series of annual sports games.

It is worth noting that after the news broke, EA had to acknowledge the incident and stated that a ‘network intrusion’ recently occurred, but it wasn’t a ransomware attack.

FIFA21 Source Code Hacked?

According to the attackers, they could download source code for games like FIFA 21 and the proprietary Frostbite game engine that’s the base of many high-profile games.

EA on the other hand has confirmed that attackers did steal software tools and source code, but it will have no impact on the gamers or its business operations. Moreover, EA has stated that player data hasn’t been stolen in the breach.

Players Not at Risk!

An EA spokesperson stated that the incident is currently being investigated, but since no player data was compromised, players aren’t at risk.

“We are investigating a recent incident of intrusion into our network where a limited amount of game source code and related tools were stolen. No player data was accessed, and we have no reason to believe there is any risk to player privacy,” the company confirmed.

Furthermore, the company has contacted law enforcement to investigate the matter. Still, they do not think the attack will affect its day-to-day operations.
