Indian Army Joins Twitter with handle of @adgpi

The Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) has joined Twitter with the handle of  @adgpi. 

Hindustan Times reports that, in a step to strengthen its relationship with social media users, the Army has decided to join Twitter and may expand its operation on other social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube in near future. 

The first Tweet from Indian Army account was posted on 8th March 2013, about Para Jump between Indian and Bangladeshi Paratroopers,   “Friendship Para Jump done by the Special Forces of India & Bangladesh at Agra today.”

Indian army is not the only army to join Twitter for social awareness, Israeli defense force, U.S army and British army etc are already part of social media.
