The ex-NSA spy and now a Whistleblower Mr. Edward Snowden said that terrorism cannot be stopped through mass surveillance tactics.
He slammed the government of Australia UK and USA for spying on people in the name of national security.
In a video interview, Snowden protected the overall notion of spying but he pointed out that surveillance should be done for some specific purpose only. It is not a good idea to conduct surveillance on all of us, said Snowden while speaking with SXSW with the American Civil Liberties Union.
He stated: “They’re not going to stop the next attacks either. Because they’re not public safety programs, they’re spying programs.”
He added, “but the question that we as a society have to ask, are our collective rights worth a small advantage in our ability to spy.”
