If you are wondering what’s going on with the popular messenger app WhatsApp then you are not alone because its service is down in many countries. Although it is unclear what’s going on and why the service is down there’s a massive number of users complaining on Twitter.

WhatsApp users in Spain, Canada, Netherlands, Brazil, USA, UK, Germany, Italy, and Turkey have confirmed on Twitter that the messaging giant is suffering an outage. DownDetector, a website which keeps an eye on online platforms has also confirmed that WhatsApp service is facing interruption.

Here are some tweets from users about the outage:

Twitter is most useful when you have to check if a service is down. @Twitter #whatsappdown

At the time of publishing this article, WhatsApp’s service was still down and it is unclear if this is a cyber attack or a technical glitch. However, we are keeping an eye on the issue once the service is back or there’s an official statement from the company we will update this article.

Update:

WhatsApp service is back but the reason for this outage wasn’t mentioned by the company. However, in a statement to media outlets, WhatsApp said that:

  • “Sorry for the inconvenience. We were experiencing a temporary outage. Our service is now restored. We appreciate your patience.”
