With Solid State Drives (SSDs) reigning the market for data storage, Samsung managed to slice its way through with an aim to grab some market share for it’s SSD 830 series. This drive comes in different storage capacities like 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. But here we’re considering the 128GB SSD of the 830 series which is primarily for notebooks and is said to be a complete, user-friendly solution for everyone.samsung-solid-state-drive-830-series-128gb-box-shot_large

Specifically, this device is a Solid State Drive with a Notebook Upgrade Kit of SATA- SATA III (6GB/s). It is a 2.5-inch 7mm (Ultraslim) Form Factor of the 830 Series. It has been designed to deliver optimum performance in multi-tasking, where Samsung’s fast random read speeds that are up to 80,000 IOPS, help to maximize performance. This measure was originally based on lometer with queue depth of 32. These sensational random read speeds offer the best possible solution of our everyday computing needs like document creation, working with multimedia files, playing PC games, web browsing, and much more.

To be honest, Samsung is sincere to offer the latest technology in its products, and this SSD is too, consisted with it. Its features include speeds up to 520Mb/s for Sequential reading, while its Sequential Write speed goes up to 320Mb/s. These lightening speeds make it possible to load large multimedia files very quickly and smoothly. As mentioned above, it has a Random Read Speed of 80K, but its Random Write Speed is only 30K (IOPS). These values differ with other versions of this series.

Samsung has designed and developed a 3-core ARM9-based MCX controller aiding multi-tasking again but on a much higher level. Since it is based on an ARM9 controller, this device can execute various operations like reading & writing data and optimization. It also consists of a 256MB DDR2 DRAM cache memory that offers stable random read performance despite of the changes in the access range.

This device weighs 0.13lbs and comes with a 3-year warranty. It consumes 0.15W of power while 5V±5% of voltage is required. Samsung’s SSD is compatible with Windows 7 (32-bit & 64-bit), Vista, XP, Linux, and Mac OSX. It keeps itself really cool most of the time as its operating temperature ranges

from 32°F- 140°F. It is definitely a user-friendly solution as the bundle includes the SSD Drive, USB to SATA Cable, Norton Ghost 15, a Drive Spacer for 9.5mm drive bays, SSD Magician 3.0, with documentation. Be sure to use it, backup your files and sleep easy!

Actually you’re getting Samsung 840 series for about couple of months, Samsung 830 are the older series SSDs which have been around for few months (almost a year?).
