Hackers Target Gospel News Portal, Leave LGBT Flag Behind

The U.S supreme court yesterday ruled in favor of same-sex marriages nationwide. Some are celebrating and some are unhappy with the ruling, but hackers have their own way to protect and celebrate.

A team of hackers going with the handle of ‘ASOR Hack Team’ hacked and defaced a famous Protestant ideology based Brazilian online Gospel news portal (verdadegospel.com) against its anti-LGBT/same-sex marriage stance.

Hackers left a deface page along with a brief message on the site, asking the pastors to stop mixing politics with religion. The deface page also showed politicians and religious figures all together defaced with the LGBT flag.

Verdade Gospel is a famous Protestent Christian news portal in Brazil with 264k fans on Facebook and 140k followers on Twitter.

This is not the first time when hackers have targeted high-profile websites in support of LGBT rights. In March 28th, 2015, hackers defaced an Indiana State website against anti LGBT – Religious freedom law and on June 9, 2015, anti-LGBT Brazilian pastor Marco Feliciano had his website hacked against his views on same-sex marriages.

At the time of publishing this article, the Verdade Gospel website was restored and working fine. However, based on our personal analysis hackers are still targeting the site.
