Did you notice the pro-ISIS hackers are targeting high-profile websites without any restriction?

Yesterday, we exclusively reported how the State Ministry for Euro-Atlantic Integration of Georgia, NATO website was hacked by The Islamic State hackers.

Today, the same group has hacked and defaced the subdomain of Illinois-based Argonne National Laboratory website, owned and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science.

The targeted domain itself belongs to Argonne’s Laboratory Computing Resource Center (LCRC). Argonne (www.anl.gov) conducts research in energy storage, alternative energy, national security, and biological and environmental systems.

At the moment, the hacked domain shows a deface page (with ISIS logo), a brief message, and a background Arabic prayer. The deface message talks about the same upcoming war like it did on the hacked State Ministry for Euro-Atlantic Integration of Georgia, NATO website.

A full preview of the deface page is available below:

The same group also defaced several Italian government websites including AIRO 2015, the 2nd Italian Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics and National Research Council of Engineering Department, ICT and Technology for Energy and Transport.

If you are following our coverage on hacks conducted by pro-ISIS hackers, you may know that this is not the first time when a bunch of high-profile websites were hacked.

On April 9, 2015, another pro-ISIS group going with the handle of Cyber Caliphate hacked French television network TV5Monde, taking over full control of network’s broadcast, Facebook page, and websites.

The same group also hacked BBC’s transmission the very same day. However, after investigations; French team claimed that it may be government-backed Russian hackers from APT28 or Pawn Storm group behind these attacks.

It was after these attacks, the Europol in June 2015 decided to hunt each and every pro-ISIS social media account operating from the European soil.

At the time of publishing this article, the targeted Argonne National Laboratory subdomain was still hacked.
